Great Weekend For Music
The best thing about living in New York (aside from interning at BlackBook) is the music. What is even better is a lot of the shows are free. This was a great weekend for music nerds like me.
Friday night I went to Prospect Park in Brooklyn to hear my recent favorite find, Deerhoof. Admission to the concert was a $3 donation. My friends and I got cheap beer (cheap for NY) and had an amazing time.
Saturday was Siren Festival hosted by the Village Voice at Coney Island. There I found one of my new obsessions These Are Powers (featured photo). A total of 14 bands played.I got to see Ra Ra Riots, Beach House, The Dodos… even better, it was all free. If you are around the area next year I recommend going to the show. -Ashley Barlow
